Decorated with original artwork, the home shares a backyard with Miller State park & the grand covered porch overlooks the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Easy access to various peninsula towns; hiking, biking, and so many other activities. NOTE: Advance requests for 2024 to be a minimum of 6 nights. Situated in a quiet area, with access to Sequim, Port Townsend, Olympic National Park (many access points), Olympic Music festival, Quilcene, Dungeness Spit, and many more areas – this is a great place to spend many days. Located only 37 miles from the Edmonds-Kingston ferry. House was built in late ‘90s and has a very efficient heating-cooling system, modern kitchen (with lots of accessories); two large bedrooms; and comfortable, well lit living space with vaulted ceiling and wood stove. LIVING RM has convertible couch to sleep two people. MASTER BEDRM has king bed, large closet, desk, dresser, and private Bathroom with tub/shower. 2nd BEDRM has Queen bed, desk, dresser, closet. HALL BATHRM has walk-in shower. ACCESS: There are two steps to front porch, and all living spaces are on one level. The hallway is extra wide, and bedroom and bathroom doors are all wide. Rear deck has space for seating, and five steps down to backyard. Beautiful east facing covered porch with view to Strait of Juan de Fuca, overlooking the front garden, and undeveloped lot across, full of cedars and singing birds. Beyond the back fence is over 2000 acres of undeveloped land, trails, and beach access (either driving 1.5mi or walking 1mi through the woods). The focal viewpoint is Protection Island in the Strait of Juan de Fuca, to the north. This is a magnificent rocky outcrop that is a Federally protected National Wildlife Refuge. Protection Island is known for its breeding colony of Tufted Puffin, rhinoceros auklets, and gulls. It is on the flyway for many migrating birds. Seals, sea lions, orcas, and other cetaceans are often seen nearby. Beyond Protection Island, are views to the San Juan Islands, Mt. Baker, and Vancouver Island. You can hop on your bike and explore the endless trails of the adjacent Miller Peninsula State Park, take a walk on the meandering quiet streets of the neighborhood. A ten-minute walk will bring you to a private beach that goes on for miles in either direction, at the bottom of the cliff. WALKING & HIKING: Many hiking trails within 30-60 min. including Dungeness Spit, upper Dungeness area, Deer Park, Hurricane Ridge, Quilcene, Dosewallips, etc. BICYCLING: Close access to the Discovery Bike trail, a mostly separated and paved bicycle, walking route, starting at Sequim Bay on the east end and Port Angeles, on the west. Many places for great road riding and mountain biking nearby. You will be able to use the entire house and yards, though no access is provided to the art studio or shed. I will not be in the area when guests are renting. The house is on a high bluff providing nice views to the Strait. The neighborhood area is very quiet; there are very few vehicles on the nearby roads so walking is wonderful on the main roads as well as into Miller State park adjacent. There are various ways to get to the rocky beach, walking from the house through the woods (approx 3/4 mile & down 250'), driving or walking to a nearby gated-road down to the beach (using key located in house if driving), or driving to a public access point. There is a bus that can be taken to Sequim and back a few times/day, though having a car is the most effective way to see the amazing area, Olympic National park and other sites. I encourage bicycling as well, and even best to prepare to stay without leaving for groceries or other necessities. UPDATE regarding Covid-19: The house is situated in a quiet area, and since the start of Covid-19, the cleaning protocols are more stringent and detailed (wiping down typically touches surfaces throughout kitchen, switches, etc) with the use of disinfectants, a min of 1-2 nights between guests, airing the house (when the weather accommodates), wipes & hand-cleaner available for guest use. If you have specific questions or considerations, do not hesitate to ask in advance of booking. There is a three-night minimum for Holiday periods.
