Welcome to the Glorious Days Cottage - Remodeled in 2022 with more upgrades in 2023! Our family friendly classic “beach box” style cottage is within a short walking distance to the ocean. Sheets and towels are provided and the kitchen, bathrooms, and pantry are stocked with typical necessities. Plenty of space to relax outside on one of the three decks or in the two person hammock in the shade under the house. Our cottage is in a prime location for the ultimate Outer Banks vacation experience! The Glorious Days Cottage is centrally located in Kill Devil Hills at milepost 6 on the beautiful Outer Banks of North Carolina. This classic “beach box” style cottage sits up on pilings and was built in 1956. It has approximately 850sqft of living area that includes an open floor plan for the living room/kitchen/dining area, 3 modest sized bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, and all the amenities to make you feel welcome! In May of 2022 we finished a complete renovation of the cottage, inside and out. Lots of the original character of this classic style cottage still remains. We’ve made sure to label the light switches so that you know which ones turn on the lights or fans…and where, we’ve included a step stool in the kitchen beside the dishwasher so you can reach the higher cabinets, and we’ve labeled the cabinets in the kitchen so you can easily find what you need ~ we had to get creative with the storage in there! Our goal was to create a cozy, comfortable space for you to relax, unwind, and enjoy this wonderful little strip of paradise we call home! Inside the Cottage: In the living room you will find a brand new (in 2023), large sectional sofa and 2 cabinets filled with puzzles, games, books, and DVD’s. The kitchen includes full size appliances (refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, stove/oven) and is stocked with typical kitchen necessities. The dining area has seating for 4 at a counter height table and seating for 4 at a wall hung counter height butcher block bar. The Queen Master Bedroom has an attached full bathroom (stand up shower), a freestanding wardrobe closet with a bar for hanging clothes along with one drawer, and another small dresser with four “basket” drawers. The King Bedroom and the Bunk Room share the full hallway bathroom (tub/shower) - which was just remodeled in April 2023; both rooms have open closets (no doors) with bars for hanging clothes, nightstands with lamps, and a dresser (four drawers). In the Bunk Room you will find double over double bunk beds with 1 twin trundle bed (the top bunk is for children or smaller teens only - not adults), books, legos, and games for the kids. All of the rooms have new Smart TV’s that you may choose to log into your own streaming services on ~ just don’t forget to log out when you leave! The living room TV is also equipped with basic cable and has a DVD player. Outside the Cottage: Plenty of outdoor living awaits you! This cottage has 3 decks with plenty of outdoor seating, a picnic table with umbrella, a gas grill, and a fish cleaning/food prep area. In 2023 we added a volleyball/badminton net in the backyard. Under the shade of the house you will find a two person hammock, boogie boards and sand toys for the beach, 3 swings for the kids, another picnic table, and an outdoor shower with dressing room. Also under the house there is a large laundry room that has a full size washer/dryer, corn hole boards and beach essentials: 6 beach chairs, rolling cooler, 2 beach umbrellas, basket of beach towels, and a beach gear wagon. ** Included Amenities ** Sheets: 1 set per bed Bath Towels: 2 bath towels, 1 hand towel, and 1 washcloth per person Beach Towels: 1 per person with a few extras Fully Stocked Coffee/Tea Cabinet: coffee pods - regular and decaf, ground coffee - regular only, coffee filters, variety of sugar packets, individual creamers, variety of tea bags Toilet Paper: 3 rolls per bathroom Shampoo/Conditioner: dispensers in each bathroom (including outdoor shower) Bath Soap: one per bathroom (including outdoor shower) Liquid Hand Soap: one at each sink Tissues in each bathroom Paper Towels: 3 rolls Dish Detergent: Liquid and Dishwasher Pods Cleaning Supplies: under each sink Clorox Wipes: 1 container in pantry Spices/Oils/Salt and Pepper Paper Plates Plastic forks, knives, spoons Garbage Bags Ziploc Bags (gallon and sandwich sizes) Tide Pods/Dryer Sheets Beach Gear: 6 beach chairs, 4 boogie boards, 2 umbrellas, rolling cooler, beach gear wagon, beach toys for the kids Guests will have access to the entire home, all decks, laundry room, and yard. Double driveway for parking in front of the house, parking available under the house for small vehicles only ~ please be careful parking under the house as there is low clearance and hatchbacks may not be able to open all the way. At the end of Avalon Drive on the ocean side, there is a parking area with private access for Avalon Beach property owners. A parking pass for this lot is located in the pantry of the house and should be placed on your rear view mirror ~ This does NOT guarantee a place to park, the lot has first come first serve parking.
