The Thompson House was built in 1908 and is a Registered Cultural Property in silver City. It was beautifully remodeled in 2021. Suite 1 features a King bed, full sofa bed, work desk, speedy wifi, large TV, full bath, and spacious living room with bay window. The house is mere blocks off Bullard street, for shopping and restaurants, and not far from WNMU. The large living area boats a small work desk, a large full size pull out couch, 2 relaxing chairs and a large TV with a Firestick. The bay windows offer abundant daylight as well as a little extra living space. Just off the living area sit a full bathroom and walk in closet. The hallway flows into the corner bedroom featuring a king size Rejuvigel bed, large windows with black out curtains on 2 walls, a dresser, as well as a corner sitting area for reading or relaxing. There is a shared kitchen across the hall (shared only with other Airbnb guests). This is where you’ll find the coffee & tea bar, as well as a quaint bistro table and chairs to sit and enjoy your beverage of choice, and the view out of the corner windows. Or you can sit, relax and enjoy your morning cup of joe, or evening glass of wine, in the reading room/enclosed porch down the hall, while you take in the view of the neighborhood from the second story vantage point. Both the kitchen, and enclosed porch are shared, but they are only shared between guests staying in the Airbnb. Guests also have access to the spacious front porch, where you can sit back, relax, and watch the world go by! Feel free to enjoy the porch swing, or sit and rock in either one of the comfortable rocking chairs. This is a great spot to people watch, or enjoy the bike races during the annual Tour of the Gila! The front porch sitting can’t be beat! (I’m sorry, but there is no smoking allowed inside, or on the porch. Thank you!) Guests have access to all common spaces on the second floor (kitchen, reading room, main hall), as well as the front porch, and main foyer. Though I personally am not in Silver City, I have a few great co-hosts that help me out that do live in the City. We are available for you via text and will do our best to make your stay delightful! The Thompson house is located walking distance to Silver City’s vibrant downtown area. It really is in the perfect location, as you are walking distance to downtown, yet you’re also far enough away to get away from the hustle and bustle, if desired. The house is located on the border of Silver City’s North Addition neighborhood, and the Historic District (which includes the downtown) area. Best of both worlds! This is a really great spot for all kinds of outdoor adventures. Silver City is a great central location for hiking in the Gila wilderness. The Gila Cliff Dwellings are a must see! After a long day of hiking, you have your choice of many hot springs in the area (several are free!), to soak in, under the clear New Mexico skies. There are many area lakes for fishing, as well as several great river spots to splash and play in. Silver City really does have it all! You are walking distance to downtown, where there are plenty of places to eat, shop, or enjoy a nice cup of coffee, at one of several quaint coffee shops. We are also walking distance to Western New Mexico University, and the beautiful McCray Gallery of Contemporary Art, as well as several hiking trails at Boston Hill. There’s a grocery store downtown (a natural foods, CoOp), and a larger local grocery store (Food Basket), just a few blocks away. There is public transportation by Corre Caminos Bus. Their schedule and fees are online. This property is smoke and pet free. No bikes are permitted in the house. Parking is street parking only.
