We look forward to hosting you! Wonderful Reflections: This vacation rental was exactly what was advertised and more. The owners anticipated even the smallest of needs. After coming in late to an unfamiliar area, we were greeted with perfect instructions, a very lovely and clean residence, and needed items provided for us that we could not have gotten till the next day because it was so late. I could not recommend this rental highly enough. It was worth the few minutes extra drive in order to be so accommodated. – Kimberly 9/2023 Clayhill Cabin exceeded all our expectations! It is lovely in it’s appointment, cozy, peaceful, and just beyond perfect! Sarah was wonderful, and our entire experience there could not have been more lovely. A short drive to so many great scenic locations, as well as shopping and dining. Yet far enough away to see northern lights and wildlife. We highly recommend Clayhill Cabin for your stay! – Amber 9/2023 Thank you so much for providing us with your beautiful home, the food, and all the other things that have made our stay extremely enjoyable. You’re so thoughtful for guests that you’ve taken into consideration of every detail for vacationers. We feel at home during our stay in your perfect home. We really appreciate your hospitality. We love your artistic interior design and decoration as well. We’ve stayed in many Airbnb homes, but yours is definitely the best! For sure, we’ll recommend your place to our friends. We hope to come back again in the future. – Jiang 9/2023 This cabin is a FANTASTIC retreat in the woods outside of Fairbanks. You feel like you are miles and miles away from civilization (and you are) BUT you can get groceries, food, and sightseeing accomplished within a short distance. And it’s a very easy drive to Fairbanks (although there are places closer), and you might luck out seeing jets take off at the Air Force base on your drive. If you have children, it’s very close to the North Pole, where you can visit the Santa Claus house and see Santa. The cabin itself is extremely comfortable. The hosts have gone above and beyond in terms of the extras. We had 4 adults and 2 children in our party, but it would have easily and comfortably accommodated more people. You will not be disappointed if you book this cabin! – Verified traveler 9/2023 My family and I were in town for a wedding. The cabin was perfect for our party of five. There is a bedroom and shower downstairs that made it very easy for my 85-year-old grandmother. The entire cabin is beautiful, extremely clean, and up-to-date. I have stayed at many Airbnb's, and this is one of the best! It is located outside of Fairbanks past the North Pole but not so far that it was an inconvenience. The hosts were very friendly, responsive, and available if we needed anything during our stay. If this property is available, do not hesitate to book, you will not be disappointed. – Jessica 7/2023 You'll have the entire cabin suite to yourself, so please enjoy! Welcome "home!" We, your hosts, Sarah and Kris, love sharing our knowledge of the local area with guests, such as recommending restaurants, tourist attractions, and hidden gems that only locals know about. Coupled with offering personalized experiences, which allows us to interact with guests more meaningfully. Additionally, we genuinely want to provide exceptional customer service, such as responding quickly to the guests' inquiries and ensuring their comfort and satisfaction during their stay. We desire to leave a lasting impression and foster positive relationships with our guests. That all being said, we want to extend a welcoming atmosphere that can help connect with our guests on a personal level. We strive to provide comfortable and clean living space with complimentary amenities or any other personal touch to help make our guests feel welcome! Salcha is a small community located approximately 36 miles south of Fairbanks, Alaska, in the Fairbanks North Star Borough. It is primarily a residential area with a mix of single-family homes and cabins. The neighborhood is surrounded by scenic wilderness, with the Salcha and Tanana Rivers running through the heart of the community. For those stationed at Eielson Air Force Base, Salcha is a popular option for off-base housing due to its proximity to the base and the relatively affordable cost of living. Additionally, the commute from Clayhill Cabin Suites to Eielson is about 10 minutes by car. For military members stationed at Fort Wainwright Army base, Clayhill Cabin Suites is a bit farther away, with a commute of about 30 minutes or longer depending on traffic and weather conditions. Despite its small size, Salcha has a tight-knit community feel, with residents frequently gathering for community events such as the farmers market, The Knotty Shop, Drips Cafe, The Salcha River Recreation Site, Dunlap Dog Mushing Tours, and many more events. In addition, outdoor activities such as viewing northern lights, fishing, hunting, and snow machining are popular in the area, with plenty of opportunities to explore the Alaskan wilderness right outside your doorstep. Clayhill Cabin Suite in Salcha, Alaska, is a remote and secluded lodging option, located about 30 miles south of Fairbanks. There are a few transportation options to get around the area: Rental Car: The easiest and most convenient way to get around Salcha is by renting a car through Turo (ask us for local recommendations), at the Fairbanks International Airport or, in downtown Fairbanks. This will give you the flexibility to explore the surrounding area and make the most of your stay at Clayhill Cabin Suites. Taxi Service: Taxi service is also available in the area. You can either book a taxi in advance or call for one when you need it. However, keep in mind that this may be a more expensive option compared to renting a car. Bicycle Rental: If you prefer a more eco-friendly option, you can rent a bicycle from one of the local rental shops in Fairbanks. This will allow you to explore the area at a slower pace and take in the natural beauty of the surroundings. Walking: If you are staying close to Clayhill Cabin Suites, walking is a great way to get around and enjoy the natural beauty of the area. Just be sure to wear appropriate footwear and clothing, as the weather can be unpredictable. Regardless of your preferred mode of transportation, it's always a good idea to plan ahead and check for any road closures or weather conditions before heading out. Please don't feed the wildlife, particularly moose, as wild animals can become aggressive if their space is invaded. Instead, guests are encouraged to enjoy the wildlife from a safe distance. Additionally, here are some helpful tips for guests staying during the winter season. For example, you may notice condensation or frost on the interior of windows or doors due to the warm, moist air inside the cabin being significantly warmer than outside. Also, power outages can happen during significant snowfall, but a generator is available for extended outages. Guests are asked to use the timer attached to the outdoor plug-in for their vehicles to avoid an excess electricity surcharge. A good rule of thumb is to plug in the car or set the timer to turn on 2 hours before they expect to drive it. The attached garage at Clayhill Cabin has in-floor heat and the boiler system for the cabin is in the garage. ***Due to this, we ask the overhead garage door only be opened when driving in or driving your vehicle out of the garage. In the wintertime, if the garage door was left open, it would freeze the boiler system and destroy the in-floor heat source of the cabin. In the summertime, it is always best to keep the garage door closed to keep the pesky Alaskan mosquitos out of the cabin. :) We appreciate your understanding and help with keeping the garage door closed! There is a portable generator at the cabin to use in the event electrical power is lost for a period of time at the cabin. Please see further instructions listed at the cabin on how to start it. Lastly, the roads to Clayhill Cabin are state-maintained and are plowed often, however, the roads are not "salted" or "treated" to remove ice from the roadway in this area of Alaska. The Alaska DOT may apply "sand" or a "brine" to help alleviate icy conditions on the roadway curves, intersections, and bridges. Some non-state roads in Alaska may not be plowed as a priority road. *** Please take into consideration the type of vehicle you will drive in this area of Alaska. Four-wheel drive and all-wheel drive vehicles are helpful, especially if you choose to drive out of the city limits on your adventures. These helpful tips ensure that our guests have a safe and comfortable stay while enjoying the beautiful Alaskan winter.
