Casa Flora is a delightful little two room apartment with a tiled bath. Antiques, original art and whimsy. Taos Plaza is just across the street and Casa Flora is close to everything downtown Taos offers. Enter through a brick courtyard lined with summer blooming flowers and outdoor seating area for an evening glass of wine or a morning cup of coffee. Casa Flora has a living room/kitchen which is comfortable and inviting. The kitchen is well equipped for home dining for two to four guests. The living room sofa is a queen sofa sleeper with great gel foam mattress for two additional guests or children. $25 per person per night which may be left upon departure. Bedding is provided in the coffee table/trunk. The room is heated with a gas log stove. Please only use wall thermostat to operate stove and NEVER turn off main gas line. The skylight offers wonderful Taos light. I am dog friendly for $10 per dog per night which you may leave upon departure. Dog sheets provided for sofa and bed. The bedroom features a queen bed with premium bedding, good reading lights cozy robes, and charming gas log stove. Again, only use wall thermostat. The bath has a tiled shower and plenty of towels and bath supplies. Leave your hair dryer at home. One is provided. I also provide two cozy robes for guests. Casa Flora is located in an adobe building built in the 1870's and has wooden floors, hand hewn beamed viga ceilings and many multi paned operable windows. The windows are screened and the rear courtyard is enclosed so you may open windows in summer and enjoy our lovely night air. 14' thick adobe walls assure winter warmth and summer coolness. There are ceiling fans in living area as well as the bedroom. There are also two swamp coolers for the few hot days we may experience in Taos. Casa Flora is furnished with antiques, original Taos art from some of our exceptional artists and my sense of whimsy throughout. I used to have an antique store in town, but I bought pieces I loved and often could not bear to sell them! Not good for a retail business, but great for vacation rentals (I have 11) My weakness is original art and I love to show my guests the exceptional quality of art in this little town. As for the whimsy-- I just love details and little surprises throughout my rentals and my guests do too. Please note that I provide "dog sheets" for use on sofa and bed. Please use. The one bedroom apartment is quiet and private although located in the heart of town. My guests often enjoy my front courtyard garden. Lots to see and enjoy. I am a ridiculous gardener. I am always available to my guests before a visit or during to answer any and all questions. My office is across the hall from Casa Flora so you will often find me here for a hello or to answer questions in person. This entire block of my four apartments, retail shops and restaurants was built in 1870's so the architecture is special, the walls thick (14") and the hand hewn vigas (roof supports) are charming. Wood floors throughout have the patina of age and a nice creak here and there. This street has an interesting history too. The name (Dona Luz) was the name of the Madame when the street was the Red Light District. I have some great stories of my Taos Tunnels, varied spirits and the Cemetery which was paved over for the parking lot across the street. One of my many books in the apartment is "Ghosts and Haunted Places of Taos" written by a local author. Two chapters are devoted to this little one block street. Even though this apartment is right downtown it is amazingly quiet and private. In the summer if you have your windows open your wake up call is the bells of the church at the end of the street. There is not much in the way of public transportation in Taos. This apartment has an ideal location since you can walk to galleries, shops, museums and a dozen restaurants. I often have guests who take the shuttle from the Albuquerque Airport, check into Casa Flora and never need a car. Please check out "Melissa's Picks" a fairly vast description of what to do and see in Taos (on frig door) PET FRIENDLY- 2 PET MAXIMUM SMALL FEE APPLIES. I do charge a $10 per dog per night which you may leave on kitchen table upon departure. Casa Flora has a well equipped kitchen so you don't have to purchase supplies and leave them behind. I provide robes, hair dryer, bath and kitchen supplies There is ample parking across the street. The parking lot across the street has meters, but the town is not currently ticketing.
