Our center hall colonial house surrounded by old Oaks, hydrengeas and a large lawn is located in a private community on the edge of town. Great for kids with no traffic and one of the best neighborhoods in Rye, this home has proven to be perfect for families (with room for grandparents). Just a 5 min walk to restaurants, shopping & the train to NYC - you can bike to beach and parks. We are usually fully booked so please enquire in advance. The property was built in 1925 and benefits from original oak wood floors throughout, as well as architectural period features like ceiling moldings, woodwork, hardware, and fireplaces typical of New England Colonial architecture. The interior design is eclectic with a blend of different styles from antique to contemporary personally curated by the owners from their travels. The house is comfortable and inviting. The collection of period furniture includes a Venetian mirror, Moroccan amour and carpets, 19th century English Victorian decoupage screen. Bentwood chairs from the famous Thomas furniture designer, Victorian painted chairs and a solid cedar table in the kitchen, a CooCoo clock and display of potery including a piece from Turkey, and multiple pieces from the famous Baybee potter. The groud floor: The living room is comfortalbe with a large sofa, 6 living room chairs and a bench infront of the fireplace. It is decorated with a cozy Beni Ourain Moroccan rug and a set of unexpected antique modernist driftwood coffee and side tables with amorphic glass tops. The artwork is a fusion of contemporary and antique pieces, highlights of this humble collection are an antique still life hunting scene from Spain, a 18th century French portrait; Picasso and Matisse lithographies; two pieces of wall art and a table sculpture all original from the Kinetic art movement. The living room bookshelf is complemented by a pair of original wall art from the Brutalist period; and finally, a unique oil painting of Trompiz is hanging in the bookshelf. The dinning room seats 10 and has large windows including a bay window. There is a swinging door into the country kitchen. The kitchen seats six, but if needed you can move the bench to the other side of the table to accomidate more. The kitchen is fully equiped. The TV room has wall to wall, floor to ceiling original solid wood panneling. The sun room is filled with white wicker furniture and has sliding glass doors on 2 sides. The office is off the kitchen, there is a small roll top desk and window out to the side of the property. The second floor: The master bedroom has a king sized bed. You will find two antique Austrian side tables and the bed headboard is a Syrian antique piece, you will also appreciate a 19th century Mexican wardrobe. The childs room has a single trundle bed, fun Star Wars decorations and two windows. The guest bedroom can be configured as two single beds or one king sized bed. The upstairs 'play room' includes a king sized Temperpedic sofa bed as well as exercise equipement (a Pelaton, you'd need to bring your own shoes, some weights and exercise bands as well as a yoga mat and roller). There are two full baths upstairs and one full bath downstairs. The entire house and yard. The garage and the trampoline are not for guest use. We are not always there to meet you in person at arrival and departure, this will depend on your check in and check out date and time. Rye is a historical new England town in Westchester. Rye is a beach town with access to the Long Island Sound, the beach is a 5 minutes drive. Rye beach offer all the facilities: swimming pool, bathrooms, restaurants and parking. The town also enjoyed from Playland a landmark attraction build at the turn of the century and the only Art Deco amusement Park in the East coast. This area has a great beach and sea views restaurants. Great summer camps for kids of all ages at Rye Y, Rye Recreation, Rye Nature Center and The Rye Arts Center are exceptional value for money where children have a blast with in doors and out doors options and could include swimming. Camps can be walking distance to the property or a fast car ride. This is a colonial New England Cottage built in 1925. There are plenty of parking in the driveway. You will be 3 miles walking distance to Rye Metro-North train station and less than 5 min to town. Rye is a city in Westchester County, New York, United States. Located in the city are two national historic landmarks: the Boston Post Road Historic District and the Jay Estate, the boyhood home of John Jay, a Founding Father and the first Chief Justice of the United States. Playland, a historic amusement park was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1987, is also located in Rye. Playland features one of the oldest wooden roller coasters in the Northeast, the Dragon Coaster. Playland has diverse amenities such as pool, beach (Long Island Sound) and restaurants with sea views. Of note are two 200+-year-old milestones labeled 24 and 25 on the Boston Post Road, oldest thoroughfare in the United States. The concept of mile markers to measure the distance from New York City was originated in 1763 by Benjamin Franklin during his term. 35 minutes to Grand Central New York City with Metro North Train. The train station is around 6 minutes walking distance from the property. All the amenities and the town of Rye is 5 minutes walking distance. A weekly cleaning service is included - changing beds, dusting and cleaning floors, kitchen, bathrooms and vacuming rugs. The service does not include a deep clean (no oven, microwave etc) or doing dishes, laundry or tiding up the house, putting away cloths or towels, no trash removal. This service is available only for monthly rentals during the summer. We can assist in your aquisition of a town Beach pass and Pool pass, depending on availability. These are paid by you directly to the town.
