It is a perfect place to rest and relax and enjoy country, river life. The carriage house is 650 sq feet of open living space with a full bath, queen size bed, living area and full size kitchen on the second floor of our carriage house. It is private. There is a deck with wonderful views of boating and sunsets. You have access to our dock for sun bathing, fishing and swimming. Normally the weather is sunny with a nice breeze and very few bugs. We are located between two very popular YMCA camps in the area, close to the ferry system taking you Beaufort, Emerald Isle and Morehead City and close to New Bern. In addition, you can walk the beaches looking for shark teeth and shells. In addition to the private living quarters, you will have access to a grill, picnic tables, dock, and sandy bottom beach for sun bathing, swimming or just relaxing. We live in the main house on the property and are generally available for questions. We can provide directions and area recommendations. Spring is here and everything is beautiful. This is a very quiet, coastal community, called The Bluffs, in the pine forests and on the Neuse River. The Neuse River is the widest river in the Americas and it is 4 miles across where we live. Sailing, fishing, motor boating, canoeing, and birding is fantastic everyday. The Neuse riverfront neighborhood in between the coastal towns of Oriental (10 minutes) and New Bern , NC (25 minutes). We are located in the heart of "summer camp country" and is between four large camps (Camp Seagull, Camp Seafarer, Camp Caroline and Camp DonLee). It is an ideal place to stay when dropping off and picking up your children. It is also an ideal place to stay to visit the many nautical and historic communities in our area. Both Beaufort, NC and New Bern, NC are over 300 years old. New Bern is the home to Tyron Palace, Tyron Gardens, and the North Carolina History Museum. Oriental and Beaufort and both quaint boating communities. Oriental is the sail boating capital of NC and Beaufort has access to the Shackleford Island wild ponies and the Cape Lookout National Lighthouse. Morehead City and Atlantic Beach are also close by to provide ocean access and sport fishing. - Minnesott Beach ferry (5 minutes from the Carriage House) offers a free 20 minute ride across to the Neuse River to Beaufort, Morehead City, Atlantic Beach, NC Aquarium, etc. It generally runs every half hour and is super convenient. - Minnesott Beach Golf and Country Club is just down the street -Dollar General has the majority of short term needs and is about 3 miles away. Larger grocery and drug stores are found in Grantsboro or Oriental, about 8 miles away. We REALLY like eating here and the seafood is FANTASTIC.... While in town, be sure to stop at Gary's Oyster Bar, just down the street for seafood. In Oriental, we love Toucan Grill, Silos, and M&M's. While in New Bern, try The Chelsea or Morgan's. We try to have brochures on events that are happening in the area.... We have lots of happenings and festivals throughout the year. If you are interested in renting boats or kayaks, here are some contacts in the area. They all have websites. Stillwater Kayaks in New Bern. 252.772.3563 Stand-up Outfitters in New Bern. 252.514.0404 Bow to Steen in Oriental has both power boat and kayak rentals 252.474.6000 We are between the small towns of Arapahoe and Minnesott Beach but smack dab in the middle of a number of historical Carolina Coastal towns: Oriental (10 minutes), New Bern (25 minutes), Morehead City (45 minutes, incl the ferry ride), Beaufort (45 minutes, incl the ferry ride) and Atlantic Beach (less than an hour). In the other direction, Greenville, home to East Carolina University, is only an hour away. If you are looking for access to the Outer Banks, it is about 3 hours away. Our neighborhood itself is a great place to walk, jog, or bike. We have two small King Charles Cavalier dogs, who are very friendly. You are welcome to bring a small pet but will be responsible for any issues and there is a additional charge for your pet. We have also put in a pickle ball court. Lots of fun. We are on the "Inner Banks" of NC on the Neuse River with awesome fishing, boating, sailing, hunting, biking... outdoor adventures await just outside your doorstep.
