Escape your busy life and unwind at Grandma's home of hospitality in the quiet and quaint historic town of Dixon, IL! Fishing and boat enthusiasts can take a short 3-block stroll to behold the breathtaking views of the Rock River dam and waterfront. Located only 0.8 miles away is our adorable downtown where you can explore quality retail shops, a charming bookstore, bakeries, a fine art gallery, wine shop, multiple fine dining restaurants. Grandmas House can not be booked for parties/events. Enjoy over 2,018 sq ft of living space with a very large screened in sitting porch. (it's a favorite place for everyone to hang out and visit when family is home) Lower level has large rooms with high ceilings and beautiful woodwork. Upstairs, two of the three bedrooms have had top to bottom make overs. (the 3rd will be finished soon) New carpet, paint, mattresses, bedding, linens, etcetera. It's a top priority of mine that my guests have bedrooms with beds so comfortable they don't want to get up in the morning! The house has cable television with Netflix on lower level, smart televisions with Netflix in all bedrooms. All four TVs have DVD players, there is a library of movies in the book case downstairs. A piano is in the home as well as games, cards, puzzles and books. Grandmas House is homey, comfortable and peaceful. What makes Grandmas even more special is the location. Literally walking distance to everything. Ten minute walk south and your downtown at the riverfront where there are excellent restaurants and pubs or ten minute walk north and you're on the Lowell Parkway Path. The path is beautiful and you can walk all the way to Lowell Park or veer off and take another path down to the meadows and the river. Three to five miles of paths. Great for biking and hiking. Grandma's house is within three blocks of a grocery store, city park, pharmacy, dollar store, gas station and the YMCA. It's central to just about everything in town. Guests will have access to the entire house. I want my guests to feel at home and use anything that's in the house. The bedrooms are all roomy with enough floor space for an air mattress should there be extra guests. There is a crib and a pack and play. If needed there is also an audio baby monitor available. My guests are welcome to set up the blow up mattresses upstairs or downstairs. There are two queen size sofa beds and one regular sofa. There is plenty of extra bedding. I have sparred no expense in purchasing the best mattresses, bedding, linens and spa towels for my guests to have a wonderful experience. Hopefully they will want to come back! I love suggestions on what I can improve upon or offer in the future. Guests will be able to check in and check out of the house without host present but host will be available by phone/email 24/7 if need be. The house is located in the heart of Dixon, in a nice, friendly, residential neighborhood within a short walking distance to the best restaurants in town! Shops, restaurants, coffee shops, bars and the beautiful Rock River Riverfront. Within one block of Dunkin Donuts, three blocks to a grocery store, drug store, city park and a short walk to Dixon bike and hiking path which leads to beautiful Lowell Park. A short driving distance to White Pines State Park, Franklin Creek state park and the Nachusa Prairie and Grasslands. Multiple beautiful hiking areas. Everything you need for necessities and activities are within walking distance. There is free street parking and a long driveway. There is a cab service in town. No parties or events are allowed. The house can not be booked for the purpose of having a party.
