Ocean’s Crest offers the perfect setting for a classic Northern California coastal vacation as it sits on 2.5 acres of ocean front property perched on a rocky bluff above Dillon Beach. This 2,100 s.f. home has 4 bedrooms and 3-1/2 baths and offers spectacular 180 degrees white water views from inside and on the glass walled deck. We have a very long history with providing excellent customer services and vacations at this and other properties. Please see our reviews for Ocean's Crest here and on our other booking site ("verbow') by searching "Ocean's Crest Dillon Beach", or call Linda for any questions you have regarding Ocean's Crest. As you turn down the long driveway the unobstructed sweeping ocean views are mesmerizing -- and this is before you even step foot into the house. After your ears adjust to the crashing waves and your eyes take in the endless oceanfront, you will soon notice that there are no other houses near you and there is nothing but you and the ocean. You will share the property with the local deer and jack rabbits, and be inspired by the continuously soaring hawks, ravens, and California turkey vultures. As you enter the house you will be greeted with even more spectacular ocean views that stretch from Tomales Bay, Point Reyes and Dillon Beach at the south, to Bodega Bay at the north. Take a breath, relax, and enjoy Ocean’s Crest. THE HOUSE IN A NUTSHELL: 4 bedrooms plus a loft, 3 1/2 bath (two master suites), in a three-story house: * MAIN FLOOR AT ENTRY (second level): Large scenic great room with living-dining-kitchen combined, main deck access, two bedrooms and two full bathrooms. * UPPER FLOOR (third level): One bedroom, ½ bath, laundry and loft /sitting area with TV and games. * LOWER FLOOR (first level): Master bedroom suite, private deck and master bath with clawfoot tub and separate shower -- all with full ocean views. Ocean’s Crest is not your typical rental property, but our private vacation home that comes with many personal touches which we hope will make your stay in Dillon Beach more comfortable and enjoyable. STAYING AT OCEAN’S CREST: Ocean’s Crest sits high above the main beach area and the village of Dillon Beach. It’s on a very private bluff with a commanding view of the Pacific Ocean and of the greater Bodega Bay. It’s a mile drive to access the beach in the village or you can hike directly from Ocean’s Crest and walk north on a one mile trail to a beautiful secluded beach at Estero De San Antonio which is accessible only to houses located in our development. The house sits right on the ocean shore, but the beach directly below the house is difficult to access. The beach at Dillon Beach village or at Estero De San Antonio is recommended. WHAT IS SPECIAL ABOUT OCEAN’S CREST: 1. Ocean’s Crest takes its name from the rugged steep hillside which the house is situated on and stands above the crest of the crashing ocean waves below. Once you have visited, you will understand the name. 2. The views have been mentioned many times already but let’s just mention the spectacular views one more time. 3. Privacy -- To the south you will see several houses on a ridge with Dillon Beach and Tomales Bay in the background. You can watch ocean surfers, sail surfers and kite flyers. To the north you will see the rugged coastline leading to Bodega Bay and at night you can clearly see the lights of Bodega Bay Harbor. To the west, directly in front of you, you will see fishing boats, spouting whales, soaring birds and an endless blue ocean. 4. There are comfortable, new beds in every room with USB ports near every bed. 5. Each of the four bedrooms is themed and decorated with matching fixtures, artwork and bedding (Whale Watch, Sandpiper Suite, Spyglass and The Nautilus). 6. It’s a short one-and-a-half hour drive from downtown San Francisco and the greater East Bay which makes it an ideal weekend getaway. 7. People love Ocean’s Crest! We have 5-star reviews of repeat renters going back for years. 8. Ocean’s Crest is a great multiple family vacation home, but it’s also a truly stunning setting for an intimate and romantic escape for one or two couples. 9. Relax and unwind with your favorite beverage (we have plenty of wine and martini glasses) as you look for the spouts of blue, grey and humpback whales right from the living room sofa using our high-powered telescope and several sets of binoculars that we leave out for guests. A TOUR THROUGH THE HOUSE: You enter on the main floor which is actually the second story of the house. The first thing you see upon entering the great room are the huge floor-to-ceiling windows stretching nearly the entire width of the house embracing the vast Pacific Ocean. As you can see from the photos, it is a view that you will never get tired of. The great room has a large sofa, two swivel chairs and a telescope for capturing whales and ships. There is a 50-inch smart TV and DVD player and a Sonos sound system. The large dining table can seat up to ten people. The kitchen is equipped with all the culinary items you’d expect to find at your own home and features a peninsula with stools to enjoy intimate breakfasts or conversation time with the chef. Off of the great room is a spacious deck for entertaining. The deck then wraps around to a side area that has a barbeque and leads to a door which enters one of the two bedrooms that are located on this level. On the right side of the main entry is the “Whale Watch” which is painted blue and features a king-sized bed and ocean views through a private window and a glass door that opens onto the deck. This room has a private entry to a full bathroom which is also accessed from the great room. It boasts a large shower with yet another ocean view. The closet in this bedroom has extra dining chairs, two card tables, a vacuum and an iron with a mini-ironing board. On the left side of the main entry is the second master bedroom, “The Sandpiper Suite”. It features a queen-sized bed, a private full bath and hillside views. This is a very secluded and comfortable room which is easily accessed from the great room. The bathroom has a shower-over-the-tub and a generous sink area to spread out. From the great room, an open stairway extends up to the open third story loft area. The loft has a fold-out double sofa and an easy chair. There are lots of board games and a large coffee table for hours of game playing. There is also a TV and DVD in the loft (this TV is not a smart TV and only operates with DVD’s or for gaming; no game consul is provided). Adjacent to the loft is a laundry area with washer and dryer which is available to our guests. The third story also has a half-bath and the fourth bedroom which is called “Spyglass” because of the hexagon window that overlooks the ocean from the top floor. This is a great kid’s room but also works for adults as a private retreat. This nautically decorated room features a little step-stool for kids to use the toy spyglass-telescope to see out of the window in search of boats and whales. Spyglass has sleeping for four people with a twin-over-queen bunkbed and an additional separate twin bed. There are ocean views through the side and spyglass windows as well as hillside views from a third window. The lower story is accessed through a private door at the rear of the great room. The entire first floor is the large master bedroom suite, “The Nautilus.” It is decorated in soft hues with shell motifs throughout. The first thing you notice about the Nautilus is the spectacular sweeping floor-to-ceiling views that are similar to what you saw in the great room. This is a very spacious and romantic room with a charming flame gas stove for heating and its own large, private deck. The room features a king-sized bed and a comfortable, overstuffed viewing chair. Off of the bedroom is the master bathroom with long countertops and double sinks, a glass shower and a large vintage clawfoot tub which is placed right in front of another full-sized window with sweeping ocean views. EXPLORING THE BEACH: There are three ways to experience the beach from Ocean’s Crest: Classic day at the beach, hike to privacy, or high-risk adventure. 1. Classic day at the beach: Load all of your beach gear and family into the car and drive down to the village at Dillon Beach. It’s best to pay for parking at the privately managed lot which is open to the public. The beach is very long, open, and sandy where you can enjoy swimming, surfing, sunbathing, and hunting for seashells. There is a small general store and restaurant nearby and restrooms are located at the parking lot. 2. Hike to privacy: A truly special experience awaits those willing to hike a one-mile trail to the Estero de San Antonio, which lies directly north of Ocean’s Crest. Wear sensible shoes as the trail has lose gravel and is very narrow and steep in some parts. From the top of the driveway, walk to the end of the cul-de-sac and pass through a cow-gate where the trail begins. Follow the bluff trail along the coast until you come to a ¼ mile long beach in front of the estuary. There are outstanding views along the hike, and rarely anybody else on the beach which makes this a unique opportunity to experience the Northern California coast without the weekend crowds of Dillon Beach proper. 3. High-risk adventure: DO NOT attempt this unless you are in strong physical condition and accustomed to rugged back county excursions. This is not a place to take young children or anybody who is not physically fit. This is not part of the property, so attempting this venture is completely at your own risk. With that said, directly below Ocean’s Crest lies a very special beach when it is low tide, but it is only accessible by descending a steep gorge with the assistance of a series of ropes. You will also need to watch for poison oak, ticks and lose rocks. This is a beach cut off from the rest of the world but it can be a very inspiring and beautiful experience for those that are physically prepared for the challenge of descending the ropes and doing a bit of climbing. Security camera located on house / exterior of house over entryway facing driveway. Security camera facing the hillside in front of the house and one facing the hillside on the back of the house. LOCAL SERVICES: Come prepared with everything you need for your stay at Ocean’s Crest. There is a small general store at the Dillon Beach Resort, but their offerings are extremely limited and tend to be “high-end” and pricey. The town of Tomales is only five miles away and does have Diekman’s, a small general store for basic items, but the selection is limited and slightly pricey. Tomales is a three-block town, but has a deli, bakery, bar and a couple of restaurants. Next is the town of Valley Ford, about fifteen minutes away, which has Dinucci’s Old-Fashioned Italian Restaurant. It was also the spot where installation artist “Christo” built his famous 24-mile long concept piece “Running Fence” back in 1976. If you want to take day trips, head south to Point Reyes Station and Point Reyes Lighthouse, or north to Bodega Bay where there are lots of gift shops and places to buy clam chowder. Both feature charming sight-seeing opportunities as well as groceries, gas and restaurants. There is also the actual town of Bodega (separate from the town of Bodega Bay) which was the filming location for the 1963 Alfred Hitchcock thriller “The Birds”. At nearby Lawson’s Point you can rent kayaks or take fishing boat excursions in Tomales Bay. There is also camping, a fishing pier and other limited services. You can take larger chartered boats from Bodega Bay for deep sea fishing or to go whale watching. Bodega Bay is about a 25-minute drive north from Ocean’s Crest. Verizon provides the best cell service at Dillon Beach, but it is somewhat spotty. You will want to log into the Ocean’s Crest free wifi to improve your ability to make calls. If your looking for a mountain vacation in Twain Harte California, please see our other 4 bedroom Airbnb property by searching "Norse Hus, Twain Harte". The phone number for the property manager is on the cover of the guest manual, on the table in the living room. The property manager is local and can address any issues if they come up during your stay. This home sits on an rugged ocean bluff, near a popular public beach. The views form this house span 180 degrees of open pacific ocean coastline.
