BirdWatcher's Perch at Crescent Moon is a rainforest cottage overlooking a botanical paradise and infinite sea. A private retreat known for organically grown, multi course artisan meals, as well as enchanting sunsets, bird and floral diversity, and reliable service. The solar powered cabin has the comforts of an ensuite hot shower and high speed internet. There is one full sized bed and one single bed. The verandah is spacious with lounging chairs and a hammock. Tour and meal packages offered. This private cottage is one of two cottages available at Crescent Moon. The Bird Watcher's Perch sits beside a vine garden growing with jasmine, roses, and bougainvillea. The front verandah is in the canopy of an aviary playground Zing Zing tree. Experience cool breezes and sweeping sea and mountain views right from your bed or hammock. The whole property is a botanical garden of fruits, flowers, herbals and aromatics. Our specialty is our spring fed 100 foot organic greenhouse which provides our seed to table world fusion meals. The River La Croix valley is remote and quiet, nestled in the foothills of Morne Trois Pitons Mountain and National Park. The property is ten acres and is located near the end of a one mile mountain road that drops into a hidden rainforest valley with a west coast, Caribbean sea perspective. Secluded yet thirty minutes from the capital city, Roseau and less than an hour from snorkeling beaches, hot springs and the airport. Crescent Moon offers a second cottage listed on AirBnb as The Waterlilly Cottage which offers the same views and amenities. Perfect for families or couples traveling together! The cabins do not have kitchens. All of the gardens and orchards are available to explore! We have chickens and goats who enjoy a visit. The greenhouse is a place of wonder that you must check out! The main dining room with sea views and water lilly gardens are also yours to enjoy. The library and common areas are all perfect places to read, relax, or play games. The river is also a lovely place to retreat. We are happy to show you some of our ongoing projects such as roasting cocoa and coffee, preserving jams and sauces, or distilling our botanicals into essential oils. Unfortunately our kitchen is not available to guests. Our homes are on the same property but located in a different area. We are accessable for any questions or concerns with a bell or a text. Our property is located in a rural mountainous fold with small farms mixing with forests. The closest shop is one mile away. The Middleham Falls trail can begin from the cabin and the country roads are full of beautiful views and friendly people and a plethora of birds. There are an abundance of hiking trails and beaches as well as the capital city within a half hour drive. Our road is very rough as we are rural and remote. We recommend hiring our local certified guide and driver David and taking advantage of our meals and tours packages. Self driving straight from the airport in the dark is not recommended as there is little signage and few lights on the main roads. Also gps maps don't always recommend the best routes. Transfers from the airport are $65 US and from Roseau $50. A full day tour including guided trips to the Boiling Lake are $130 total. David lives on site. He also grew up in the area so he knows the roads and the flora and fauna. He is a patient guide and a nature enthusiast with many years of hospitality experience. If you still prefer to rent a vehicle make sure it is a jeep type and do let us know your arrival details. Food and Tour Packages! Crescent Moon is rooted in food! Our meals are all organically home grown and slow food prepared. We make our own sourdough bread and yogurt, desserts, and ice cream. We pickle our beans and cucumbers and smoke our meat and vegetables. Chutneys and sauces are prepared and preserved with each harvest. Our dinners are three courses of gourmet deliciousness tailored to your dietary preferences. We have only two cottages on the property so meals are crafted just for you. We encourage our guests to take advantage of our package options: Breakfasts and dinners for two, transfers and guided tours with 3 nights stay US $690 5 night stay is US $1150 7 night stay is US $1610 Payable with cash upon check out. A la cart dinner is $40 per person. Breakfast offers fresh fruits and eggs from our farm as well as coffee, juice, and teas. Breakfast is $10 per person. Packed lunches are available. All fruits and vegetables in the gardens and greenhouse are organically grown. We have dairy goats and layer chickens. Farm harvests, spring water, and fresh eggs are collected daily. Tours and transfers with David, our co-host, driver, and on-site certified trail guide are available with advanced reservation a la cart or with the meals and tours package. A full day excursion is $130 US. Transfers from the airport are $65 and $50 from Roseau. All food, beverages, and transportation costs need to be paid in cash upon check out as we do not have a credit card option at this time.
