Casa Bem-Te-Vi: a triplex rooftop penthouse in Ipanema with an outstanding view. 2 master bedrooms, 1 additional bedroom, 1 small room for a child, 1 dining, 2 livings, 2 kitchens, 2 master bathrooms, 1 small bathroom, 1 large balcony with a hammock, 1 spacious 180º view terrace with a churrasco/bbq facility (service on request), sunbed, hammocks and an outdoor shower. The terrace is loved by many birds but especially the Bem-Te-Vi (Good-To-See-You) which promised to sing for you every morning Three floors (or rather say, 2,5), and it's the 9th top floor of the building which has 24/7 doorman and a double safety gate. DESIGN A minimalist and geometrical penthouse designed/previously owned by a Norwegian family - wood, glass, and plenty of light. This property looks very different from most of the apartments at Rio's Zona Sul. Wooden finished, it has an elegant European touch in many of its features, including a mezzanine floor with a Junior Suite bedroom and a walk-in closet. All this makes our property literally a triplex. ROOMS This outstanding 3-bedroom (1 king, 1 queen and 1 double), 2,5-bathroom (two are full bathrooms and one has a WC plus a small shower facility) apartment also has a terrace shower (water gets naturally lukewarm during the day) and a small room for a child with s single bed (it can also fit an adult sleeping, it has an AC, however the kid’s room has a low ceiling and a funny access which kids might find much more amazing than the adults). Guests will enjoy 2 living/dining integrated rooms (the living rooms have fans but no AC as both of them are quite airy and open to wind due to penthouse nature of our place), separate washing area, two washing machines and two well equipped kitchens. The apartment comfortably sleeps 2 families or 2 groups. The first floor sofa bed could sleep an additional guest. Guests will have access to all rooms listed. VIEW Upstairs living room opens to a total landmark of this apartment - a spacious secluded terrace with 180º mind blowing views of what Rio has to offer - Paõ de Açucar (Sugar Loaf), Dois Irmãos (the Two Brothers Peak), powerful Favela Pavão Pavãozinho with its dozens of sky diving kites during the day and thousands of windows lit by night, and, finally, a side-view of Ipanema Beach (the nearest part of the beach is Posto 8). NATURE The terrace isn't only known for its magnificent view - it is also loved by many beautiful birds that come here to sing during the day - hence the name of the place, Casa Bem-Te-Vi (The Good-To-See-You House, named after the great kiskadee - the bird you gonna see and, most importantly, hear the most - as it sings its world famous Beem-Teee-Viii - for you and your beloved ones). BUILDING The building has things to offer: a small private gym (not brand new but ok for someone who’s traveling), a lovely outdoor swimming pool and a smaller indoor pool for the kids, as well as a space for family events. Guests will have free access to the parking slot in the basement. CHILDREN The families with children will feel quite comfortable here (however we do not recommend families with kids below 3 years of age to take the space upstairs as the staircase doesn’t have the special protection barriers and might be difficult this way). LGBT The area and the building itself are quite gay friendly. Ipanema Posto 8 beach (5 min walk) is amongst world’s most known gay beaches while Smart Fit gym (rua Visconde de Pirajá, also a 5 min walk) is one of Rio’s liveliest gay friendly fitness clubs with only a R$20 day pass. ADDITIONAL FACILITIES AND TIPS – Churrascaria (bbq facility on the terrace) is available to the guests. Service upon request - at an extra charge. – The outdoor pool hours are 9am to 5pm Tuesday to Sunday (summer time 10am to 5pm), the gym hours are 9am to 10pm. – If you would wish to park you car in the basement, please let us know in advance so we arrange this for you with the house management. – Housekeeper throughout the stayupon request - at an extra charge. – We would ask the guests to water the plants on both terraces at least twice a week - otherwise the housekeeper will do this at a time specifically agreed with the guests. NEIGHBORHOOD Even though the apartment is just a few minute walk from one of the most known beaches of South America, Ipanema - a unique quality of this neighborhood is its total quietness. This is well complimented by Ipanema's main square, Praça General Osorio which is located literally around the corner - with all its restaurants, bars, shops and a 24h Ipanema's largest supermarket Zona Sul (closes 9pm Sundays and reopens 6am Monday). Most importantly, you won't be able to hear any of it at all. The street gets busy during the day due to General Osorio metro station located just around the corner (2 min walk). If you need a taxi, there is plenty of them passing by the building at pretty much any time of the day. However 99 Taxi is a great application that works well in Rio, and Uber (much cheaper than at most of the cities in the world) is amongst Rio's best working services. One of the main points of interest nearby is Favela Pavão Pavaozinho which happened to be one of the first 'pacified' communities in South Rio. For some years now Pavaozinho attracts many foreign visitors, yet we wouldn’t recommend you going there without a specially trained tourist guide. If you decide to go (its elevator is literally some minutes walk from the building), please try to respect locals and avoid using your camera (as people living there would prefer to avoid being seen as animals at the zoo). Guests will have access to the swimming pool and the gym in the building, the parking lot in the ground floor garage as well as the social area of the condominium. Please specify in advance if you need to park your car as this has to be organized with the House Management. We are available to the guests at any moment, via WhatsApp / text / call, whatever is easier - and happy to give tips and useful details on both the city, its attractions, safety and any required information. Do visit The Museum of Tomorrow in the harbor area (it's a beautiful Calatrava building and a great concept) and also the MAR Museum of Art of Rio (around the corner) and then CCBB (also a short walking distance to both mentioned above) with great exhibits and film and music always on! You can take a 20 min metro ride to get there (it's a direct line from General Osorio around the corner from our place, you can buy a single ticket right at the station, disembark at Uruguaiana), otherwise call yourself an Uber, it should be below R$30 a one way ride. Another great art space to see is Instituto Moreira Salles with great photography shows on - with the most amazing small park and architecture in the package - it's in Gávea, much closer to our place, like a 7 min Uber ride (if no traffic). For dinner I would go to Le Poulê, a lovely place 4 min walk, next to the 24h Zona Sul supermarket, or to Zaza Bistro (a 10 min walk) on the corner of Rua Joana Angelica and Rua Prudente de Moraes (might be a bit of waiting if you come peak hours). Drinks: try Bar Canastra right around be corner, the French cheese and wines are fab! Otherwise Comuna Bar is great - a 15 min Uber ride. While walking around Rio, don't show your smartphones to the people on the street - it's not the safest thing in Rio, also avoid wearing jewelry, I have never been assaulted since my 10 years in Rio but the simple rules are the must! Metro General Osorio is literally around the corner from the building. It's located 2 min walk away.
