Water is potable in Monteverde (and in most of Costa Rica). No need to buy plastic bottles. Entrance: the suite is an attached granny to our main house, with a separate/private entrance up a set of stairs at the back. Parking: we live off a private one-lane, unpaved mountain road. Plenty of room to park. If you have a low-car or non-4x4 please contact us (most folks can get in without problem but we like to let folks know it is a mountain road). Laundry room is available upon request (extra fee), hang dry your clothes if you want or use our gas dryer (extra fee). Special Note: We take extra steps to clean and sanitize frequently touched surfaces between reservations. We donate a portion of our proceeds to local conservation efforts. You can easily access the free "Crandel Reserve" at only 150 meters from our house, plus while you sit back and relax, you are likely to catch some of the local wildlife as our property offers two biological corridors. You can often hear Howler monkeys in the early mornings and early evenings. If interested you can walk around and see our ever-evolving garden which includes a banana grove, wild berries, wild uchuas, and more. We are within walking distance to the Curicancha and Bajo del Tigre Reserves. We are happy to help you book tours in the area and provide you with basic orientation. If you want us to alert you to when we see the monkeys, please let us know. At times this can be quite early (5:30 am) so just let us know what you would prefer. They cross right next to the house. While we are just a stone's throw to downtown Monteverde, our residence is tucked away in a rainforest sanctuary. If you want to experience peace and solitude this is the place for you. You are a pleasant walk away from Cafe Monteverde, Zuccaros bakery, and Stelas, plus several local restaurants. White Faced-capuchins are our closest neighbors. Your greatest odds of seeing them are between March-August each year where they appear almost daily. Bus stops at the Monteverde Cheese Factory just 200 m from the house. They are friendly and will let us know when you arrive the first time as they greet you. Please note that since this is in the forest small insects may get in. They are not dangerous. The great news is that there are still insects because they help feed birds, frogs, and other wildlife and are what helps sustain our own food. Nature, and its conservation is very important to us. Over the past few years we have planted over 350 native trees/plants on our property in an effort to re-forest and preserve our landscape. In addition, we donate $1 per guest to local conservation efforts (CorClima). Finally, in winter months (Dec-Feb) Monteverde is quite windy. The granny unit is right next to a thriving Cedar tree, which sheds sticks at this time. This may cause some noise as they fall on the tin roof.
