The villa is just a short walk from the beach and surfing spots, as well as many great restaurants, bars, and places to enjoy the sunset. You can also walk to a supermarket for groceries and shop for unique gifts at the nearby boutiques. A yoga studio across the street offers daily classes. The area’s best surf breaks at Playa Santa Teresa, Banana Beach and Playa Carmen are all within a 5 to 10-minute walk away. You can also explore the beautiful tide pools at the beach directly in front of the villa. At the crossroads of Mal Pais/Santa Teresa make a right turn heading north. We are about a kilometer away from the crossroads, just before Super Costa. The quickest route to Villa Picasso is by air from San Jose (SJO) to Cobano (COB) on Sansa Airlines. From Cobano, we can arrange either a taxi or shuttle to pick you up (approximately $60), or you can rent a car from Budget (reserve in advance). Villa Picasso is a 25-min drive from Cobano Airport. Alternatively, you can travel by land. From San Jose, head to the port town of Puntarenas by taking the new highway (27) via Santa Ana to Calderas (about 1.5 hours). In Puntarenas, board the ferry to Paquera and cross the Gulf of Nicoya (about 1 hour). Once in Paquera, drive towards Tambor and then Cobano. Continue straight in Cobano for around 20 min until you reach your destination. Additionally, both private and public shuttles are available directly from San Jose to Villa Picasso, for approximately $250 and $50, respectively. The journey takes around 7 hours. Public shuttles leave twice a day (excluding holidays), and private shuttles are arranged by request to fit around your specific itinerary. There is also a public bus that leaves twice a day (excluding holidays) from San Jose to the Nicoya Peninsula. The journey takes about 7 hours, including an hour-long ferry ride from the mainland to the peninsula. The bus departs from Terminal 7-10 and a ticket costs $12.
