Hacienda Chan Chan is a working dairy farm nestled in the mountains above Cuenca. Beautiful views, great hiking, and an excellent opportunity to pet an animal. We are close enough to explore Cuenca, but far enough away to escape it all. We no longer offer breakfast or any meals. Please bring food to cook. Guests will stay in a cozy wooden chalet. The house has two bedrooms a bathroom and a kitchen/living area. For cooler evenings an efficient wood cook stove is able to easily warm the house. Guests will have access to the entire chalet. Bedrooms are above the kitchen/living area, with private entrances to each room. The bathroom is up a flight of exterior stairs. Our new host, Christian, will be on call if you need anything. Although he lives in Cuenca, he will help you with anything you need. We have 90 hectares (222 acres) of pasture and primary forest for you to explore. A small stream and a river run through the property. Trout have been spotted. There are also nature reserves and pristine reservoirs just down the road. Cuenca is easily accessible and able to be explored as well. We are about a half hour drive by car from the Cuenca bus station and airport....probably 45 minutes to downtown Cuenca. We offer shuttle services (about a 15 minute drive) to the nearby town of Chiquintad, where you can catch a bus (#26) into Cuenca. As our children attend school in Cuenca, we are also in out of Cuenca daily and can occasionally pick people up and drop people off directly in Cuenca. The chalet is located amongst other buildings on our farmstead. You may hear chickens in the morning and cows in the evenings. Farm dogs occasionally bark. Cows or horses may be led past your front door. You will be an active observer of farm life. Regarding pets, we do not allow them. We no longer offer breakfast or any meals. Please bring food to cook.
