Hangling, Sept., 2014 “……...The best part of staying here was our amazing hosts.” We had a wonderful time staying with Marion and Pat in their lovely house. The room was spacious and clean and they are friendly and easy to get in touch with. I was so touched they were waiting for us around fires in their yard when we arrived. You can see bright stars that are so close to you at night." Our home, built in 1910, is steeped in the history and tradition of East Sullivan and was previously the site of the Island View Lodge during the earlier part of the last century. Over the past eighteen years we have completely renovated it in a way that captures the idyllic and unique ambiance of maritime Maine. Our house features four upstairs private rooms for rent on a daily basis: 1. The Log Cabin Room- Farm and Forest View- Approx.$70-85 2. Lighthouse Room- Approx. $60-$70 ( exceptions apply) 3. Awesome Bar Harbor Lights- ocean and mountain view $80-90 4. Amazing Mountain View -ocean, bay and Mountain View 80-90 Each room offers a queen-sized bed with luxury bedding, towels, shared bath with shower/tub, hairdryer and sundries, internet, and access to a brochure stand and hospitality table. You are also welcome to rest on our beautiful front porch, or have a lobster dinner on our barbecue table with outstanding views of the Islands. Our spread includes landscaped gardens with mature rugosa roses, old fashioned rose bushes, white and purple lilacs, hydrangeas, quince bushes, viburnum, holly, lavender, an apple and pear orchard, fenced kitchen garden with herbs, raspberry plants, blueberry patch and grape arbor, potatoes and corn planting in season and various wildflowers including Lupine, Daisies and Tansy. Guest Room, Upstairs Large Shared Bathroom (unless there are not other guests during your stay, in which case it would be private, )Table, Front Porch, Barbecue Table. We are happy to meet and great you and provide as much help as possible in getting around the area during your stay. If there is anything that you need we hope you will just ask and will be happy to accommodate in any way we can. Please note that we have two 8 lb. pups named Twinkie, a cavapoo and Freddy, a cava shitsu who are both non allergenic, and our friendly greeting committee. We are located amongst several charming fishing villages and you can walk to the lobster shack at the end of our street for a full Lobster Maine dinner, Lobster or Clam Roll, or even just an ice cream cone. There are several excellent full service restaurants in the Schoodic Area which we can happily refer you to. Kayak and bike rentals are available for touring the Acadia National Park at nearby beautiful Schoodic Point. Or take a day trip by Ferry from Winter Harbor to Bar Harbor across Flanders Bay and Frenchman's Bay beyond. Explore our many local ponds including Tunk Lake, Little Tunk Pond or Donnell Pond run by the State of Maine where you might catch site of a moose! Or Climb Schoodic Mountain for breathtaking views. There are two large parking areas, one of which is our main driveway, and another area adjacent thereto that can accommodate a camper. But you will need a vehicle to get around in rural Maine. There is a Ferry from Winter Harbor to Bar Harbor in season, but the car ride to Acadia is a lovely one Guest Room, Upstairs Shared Bathroom (could be private if there are not other guests), Hospitality Table, Front Porch, Barbecue table. We are happy to meet and great you and provide as much help as possible in getting around the area. Please note that we have a Guest Room, Upstairs Shared Guest Bathroom, Hospitality Table, Brochure Stand, Front Porch and Barbecue Table Area on Ocean side. Our Air BnB is designed for the active traveler who is out and about, for the most part, during the morning and afternoon hours. Sometimes we have to run errands briefly during the day but we always work with our guests as to their daily plans if that involves leaving or arriving particularly late or early for whatever reason. Our philosophy is to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. After eighteen years as residents we have the lay of the land in Downeast Maine and have sampled most of the fun outdoor activities that you will be wanting to enjoy. We love to help and to be a resource for you whether it is finding a restaurant, or helping with a recommendation on the best Kayak guides around. We also have an abundance of books and brochures on the various hikes, and of course all of the many recommendations of our guests! Please note that we have two 8 pound pups named Twinkie, a cavapoo, and Freddy a friendly cava shitsu who comprise our welcoming committee. 😊 We are located amongst several charming fishing villages and you can walk to the lobster shack at the end of our street for a full Lobster Maine dinner, Lobster or Clam Roll, or even just an ice cream cone. You will need a car in rural Maine. The road trip to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park is approximately 30-40 minutes of exquisite, tranquil views of the Mountains, Bays and the rocky coast of Maine. We live between the Scenic Byway and old Route 1 on Flanders Bay (Grange Hall Road),so that says it all!! However there is a Ferry to Bar Harbor from Winter Harbor, a small fishing village nearby, if you would rather travel that way. A Lobster Shack is within walking distance to our home. We have plenty of parking in our driveways and adjacent parking area. 1. No smoking policy in the house or around the premises 2. We cannot accept deliveries of mail or packages to our home due to possible difficulties in receiving them. 3. Room set up for two adult guests. 4. We cannot provide kitchen privileges but there is a guest refrigerator, and microwave available only for guests in the garage area. 5. Please take any valuables with you when you leave the room each day.
