Alpenhutte is located just steps away from downtown Government Camp, where you can find restaurants and family-friendly activities. You’ll love our place because of the light, the comfy beds, and the coziness. My place is good for couples, groups of friends, families (with kids), and well-behaved furry friends (pets). Alpenhutte was built in 1940 and remodeled in 2005. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable, though the common rooms are cozy! The kitchen is nice and is fully stocked with all of the pots, pans, and dishes that you require, but it is not large. I call it a one-cook kitchen, which I find perfect when vacationing. Please note that the stairs between floors are narrow and steep. Some people may not find this suitable for toddlers, or for people that have trouble navigating stairs. We have a large screen TV on the main floor and one in the basement. We do not have cable TV, but do have blue-ray, and a DVD player. We also have a Chromecast on both TV's if you would like to access your streaming accounts. The television in the bonus room downstairs has a VHS player, and many VHS tapes that are in the PG-G range. There is a fireplace that you are welcome to use. Please plan to bring your own wood if you would like to do so. The grill on the deck is generally not accessible in the winter due to heavy snow. From our house you can walk to downtown Government Camp in any season. We are just one block from the shops and restaurants. You can also walk or drive to Ski Bowl and Summit Ski area. Timberline Lodge and Mt Hood Meadows are a short drive away. If there is enough snow, you can ski down to our house from Timberline Lodge, using the Alpine ski trail. In summer, you can also hike this trail up to the Lodge. Cross Country skiing and Snow Shoeing trails can be accessed on foot, as well as many hiking and biking trails. Guests will have access to the entire house with the exception of the owner's closet. I will be available by phone or text to answer any questions you may have before or during your stay. We are steps away from skiing, hiking, and biking. There are several restaurants in Government Camp to choose from, a general store that has just about everything you need, and more than one place to rent ski equipment. There is a shuttle that can take you up to Timberline Lodge that leaves from the gas station in Government Camp. Times vary depending on the season. The roads to Government Camp are usually well plowed during the winter. The road up to our house, however, is fairly steep, and often not perfectly plowed. You should bring chains for your car if you do not have a 4-wheel drive.
