This lovely, fully furnished, cozy guest house is perfect for per diem professionals who want a home away from home:) We are located 1 mile from picturesque Old Town New Bern, which was named after Bern, Switzerland and founded in 1710. It is surrounded by two major rivers, the Trent and the Neuse, great for boating, fishing, live theater, lots of live music, and relaxing. It is a historical treasure with the Tryon Palace, state of the art History Center, battle field, and lovely parks. After its incorporation in 1723, New Bern served as the capital of North Carolina until Raleigh became the permanent government center in the late eighteenth century. This fully furnished cottage is very private and separate, reached by an outside stairway. It overlooks a beautiful back yard from a sitting balcony. Given the stairs, deck and apartment layout, guests must be 12 years of age or older due to safety concerns. The neighborhood is lovely for walking and safe. Off-street parking is directly below the apartment for convenience and set back for safety. We are in the separate big house on the property if needed. We give our guests privacy and space but will be available on site as our home is on the property, or by cell phone when not at home. DeGraffenried is a beautiful historic district just one mile from Historic Old Town New Bern, which is filled with privately owned shops, art, music, and theater. It also includes the historicTryon Palace (part of Outlander was filmed here) which is a large, living interactive Governor's Mansion complex that dates back to when New Bern (one of the original Colony's) was occupied by the British, and then became North Carolina's first Capital. It also has a state of the art History Center depicting North Carolina's rich history, interactive technology, and special events and presentations. There is no public transportation except cab and uber but there is free ample parking in downtown New Bern and easy walking distance to New Bern's major attractions. WiFi is available but the apartment does not have a TV. There is a $40 professional cleaning fee per stay in addition to the rental fee. There is a 10% discount for a week or 20% for monthly stays.
