Esther, August, 2015 "Marion and Pat live in one of the nicest landscape areas we have ever seen and it is only a 40 min drive to the Acadia Park. Their house is very pretty and lovely decorated inside and outside and they both put a lot of effort on the details……." This room has the “wow” factor!! Light and airy room with white cottage furniture and vintage touches has three windows with an expansive view of Bar Harbor, Frenchman's Bay, Flanders Bay and Cadillac Mountain. Our home is steeped in the history and tradition of East Sullivan and was previously the site of the Island View Lodge during the earlier part of the last century. Over the past eighteen years we have completely renovated it in a way that captures the idyllic and unique ambiance of maritime Maine. Our house features four upstairs private rooms for rent on a daily basis: 1. The Log Cabin Room- Farm and Forest View- $70-75 2. Amazing Bar Harbor Mountain View - Mountain, Bays and Bar Harbor Views-$80-85 3. Awesome Bar Harbor Lights - Spectacular views $80-85 4. Lighthouse Room- $75 ( exceptions apply) Each room offers a queen-sized bed with luxury bedding, towels, shared bath with shower/tub, hairdryer and sundries, internet, and access to a hospitality table. You are also welcome to rest on our beautiful front porch, or on our rear deck. Or have a lobster meal on our barbecue table with a gorgeous view of the Islands and Bays. 5. Stargazer Cabin is a new one bedroom camp also on our property for those guests seeking more space. It is a fullly equipped camp also with a view of Cadillac Mountain. Our spread includes an apple and pear orchard, fenced kitchen garden with herbs, raspberry plants, blueberry patch and grape arbor, potatoes and corn planting in season and various wildflowers and shrubs including Lupine, Daisies and Tansy as well as Quince, Lilacs,Rugosa roses, old Fashioned Rose bushes, Viburnum, Hydrangeas and more. Guest Room, Upstairs Bathroom, Hospitality Table, Front Porch, Barbecue Table. We are happy to meet and great you and provide as much help as possible in getting around the area. Please note that we have two hypoallergenic dogs that are eight pounds each and they are ourwelcoming committee. Check out our picture of Freddy and Twinkie. We are located amongst several charming fishing villages and you can walk to the lobster shack at the end of our street for a full Lobster Maine dinner, Lobster or Clam Roll, or even just an ice cream cone. There are several excellent full service restaurants in the Schoodic Area which we can happily refer you to. Kayak and bike rentals are available for touring the Acadia National Park at nearby beautiful Schoodic Point. Or take a day trip by Ferry from Winter Harbor to Bar Harbor across Flanders Bay and Frenchman's Bay beyond. Explore our many local ponds including Tunk Lake, Little Tunk Pond or Donnell Pond run by the State of Maine where you might catch site of a moose! Or Climb Schoodic Mountain for breathtaking views. There is one large driveway and an adjacent parking area which can accommodate a vehicle But you will need a vehicle to get around in rural Maine. There is a Ferry from Winter Harbor to Bar Harbor in season, however, the Park on MDI is a scenic ride. Guests have full access to the upstairs guest room and guest bath, which is shared if there are other guests visiting, as well as the common area that serves coffee, tea and morning treats. Also enjoy the front porch or relax in our rustic rockers in our sitting room. You might also enjoy having a lobster meal on our picnic table facing the shore or a comfortable rest on the backyard deck with umbrella. Our Air BnB is designed for the active traveler who is out and about, for the most part, during the morning and afternoon hours. Sometimes we have to run errands briefly during the day but we always work with our guests as to their daily plans if that involves leaving or arriving particularly late or early for whatever reason. Our philosophy is to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. After seventeen years as residents we have the lay of the land in Downeast Maine and have sampled most of the fun outdoor activities that you will be wanting to enjoy. We love to help and to be a resource for you whether it is finding a restaurant, or helping with a recommendation on the best Kayak guides around. We also have an abundance of books and brochures on the various hikes, and of course all of the many recommendations of our guests! We are located amongst several charming fishing villages and you can walk to the lobster shack at the end of our street for a full Lobster Maine dinner, Lobster or Clam Roll, or even just an ice cream cone. You will need a car in rural Maine. The road trip to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park is approximately 30-40 minutes of exquisite, tranquil views of the Mountains, Bays and the rocky coast of Maine. We live between the Scenic Byway and old Route 1 on Flanders Bay (Grange Hall Road),so that says it all!! However there is a Ferry to Bar Harbor from Winter Harbor, a small fishing village nearby, if you would rather travel that way. A Lobster Shack is within walking distance to our home. We have plenty of parking in our two large driveways.
